2/7/09 - Date Fifteen: Um, was this a date?

I don't really know. This was the second time I saw Short Stories. As I posted before, he's texted me multiple times asking me to meet him places near where I live and I've declined but given his persistence, I was intrigued and my curiousity got the better of me ... also I was going out anyway to meet a friend in the same area so had a back up plan if things got weird.

He invited me to meet him at a friend's 40th birthday party. This is the sum total of the information I had about the evening. Well, I also knew the venue but other than that had no idea how he knew this person, who they were, or what to expect upon arrival. I got there, was escorted to the party by the maitre de, and saw my little friend. Again, he was dressed well and politely got up to pull out my chair, giving me a quick little hug. I sat down, figured out who the birthday girl was, how he knew her, and we proceeded to have a nice conversation over a drink and some yummy tapas.

I am on the fence about this guy. He's really nice, and as the other post about our first date indicates, very interesting ... I just don't have the warm fuzzies when I hear from him. I'm feeling more of a friend vibe with this one and am pretty happy about that actually. The goal of this whole process, as the title of this blog indicates rather obviously, and I fear desperately, is to find a man I can love who will love me, too. I will not love Short Stories. But I like him and he does totally random things. I admire his bravery and adventurous spirit. Maybe some of that will rub off on me and I'll be a little more brave in my daily life or be a little more willing to take a risk the next time said risk presents itself.

Huh. I may have just learned something and grown a little bit ... huh.
